I was listening to Eat, Sleep, Work, Repeat recently which is an excellent podcast all about work culture and work/life balance. In it Bruce Daisley was interviewing Jeffrey Pfeffer and in the interview he said the following: “the person you report to at work is more important than your family doctor”.
This struck a cord with me on many levels but I think the most important one is to be human with each other. I’ve had experience of working with some horrid people who make your life at work hell. It’s your responsibility as a manager to set the tone. At the end of the day we are all human and human interaction is as primal a need as it comes.
